Nafplion (Chora)

Syntagma square in the center of Nafplio is home to many historic buildings and monuments, including two Turkish mosques that are now used for different purposes - one serves as a cinema and was previously the site of the first co-educational school, while the other was the location of the first parliament of the Hellenes. Nafplio is known for its elegance and romantic atmosphere, as well as its clear blue waters.

Asini

The charming community of Asini is situated 10 kilometers from the city of Nafplio and has a population of 1064 residents. Asini is nestled at the base of a mountain that is shaped like an egg, on which sits the church of Prophet Elias. Visitors to Asini can explore the remnants of a fortified city dating back to the 2nd and 3rd centuries BC, as well as an ancient Mycenaean cemetery on a nearby hill. Swedish archaeologists conducted excavations in the area about 80-90 years ago, during which they uncovered 25 graves and other artifacts.

Drepano

Drepano is a beautiful and large village located in a stunning bay just 8 kilometers from Nafplio. It is situated at the base of the hill of Agios Nikolaos, and most of the houses in the village are built on rocky terrain and are close to one another. The narrow, winding streets of Drepano are reminiscent of an island, and the village square is home to the Church of St. Andrianos and St. Natalia. This church is the site of the biggest traditional festival in the region, which takes place on August 25th and 26th.

Iria

Iria is a delightful settlement divided into two areas - the charming "under village Iria" with its quaint houses, and "Iria Beach," which features a charming, small port with several taverns. This beach area is also home to a popular spot from which fishing boats depart daily, allowing visitors to enjoy freshly caught fish. Iria was originally founded by Cretan refugees during the time of Kapodistrias, but there is evidence that the wider region has been inhabited since ancient times.

Neo Roeino

Located just seven kilometers from Nafplio, the village of Neo Roeino sits atop a hill with stunning views of the surrounding area. Many of the residents are farmers who sell their agricultural products to nearby cities like Nafplio, Argos, and Athens. There are also a number of cafes and taverns in the village where visitors can enjoy traditional flavors. The name "Roino" is derived from the word "mountain" in Greek.
